With low ratios and an exciting programme led by a passionate team of teachers we offer a variety of real life learning experiences that will foster your child's love for life long learning. Our learning environment is specially designed with nature in mind and to be engaging from the moment you walk in the gate.
Our Story
After a decade of dreaming Ako Early Learning was born in 2022 when Ingrid and Marc Brakenrig took a gamble and purchased a Central Tauranga preschool with "some room for improvement". After countless evenings and weekends spent reimagining and redeveloping Ako's learning landscapes it is now one of Central Tauranga's premium childcare centres. Ingrid is a passionate educator with post graduate degrees in early learning and practical hands on experience in centres across the country. It's this real world experience that has helped shape the vision that is Ako today.
Ako is a te ao Maori (Maori world view) concept that recognises the reciprocal act of learning and teaching. It encompasses the knowledge and experiences that each person brings with them that is shared to enhance the learning of others. These reciprocal relationships are with the teacher, the child, and their whānau.
